Sue was well into her adult years before she
began painting seriously. She had always painted but had little training and never thought she could be any good. Then realized it didn't matter, dubbed herself an ARTIST and began painting. It is the doing, the sharing, and looking at things differently. She began taking classes and workshops, but is mostly self-taught. She and her husband like to travel and take photographs. She uses these for many of her paintings because it adds more interest to her artwork and a better understanding of the places they visit.
I began painting wine when my sister and husband, Gail
& Rob LaRoque returned from France with a bottle of Chβteau LaRoque
wine. I took that painting to my next show and got a commission for
another and then another. The more I painted the more I begin to see new qualities within each wine that I needed to express. Every wine, glass, and bottle refract light differently just as every curve creates a different reflection on each item. My paintings are not just about the light and shadows but the life and vitality of the wine. Each has a unique personality I try to convey in my painting.
